Happy almost-fall, fellow bookworms! Reading is awesome in every season, but there's just something about fall that makes me feel like cozying up with a book (the spookier, the better!), a cup of coffee and a warm blanket. Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic, provided by the ladies at The Broke and the Bookish, is about the books we're hoping to read this fall.
I had plenty of books to choose from -- my Goodreads to-read list is now at a whopping 438 books -- and it was hard to narrow down the ones I want to read right now (because, obviously, I want to read them all right now!). I ended up with a nice mix of old, new and upcoming books (plus the five leftover from my fail of a summer TBR list), including some fiction, mysteries and non-fiction. I'm participating in R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril (R.I.P. X) this fall and I've got several books on my list that'll fit the required bill of mystery, suspense, horror, etc.
Do tell: what books will you be snuggling up with this fall? Does fall put you in the mood for creepy mysteries and gothic page-turners like it does me?
For R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril (to read by October 31):
Leftovers from my summer TBR post:
Wow! With the exception of Vicious, these are all new to me. I hope you enjoy all of them this fall!!

I've got Orphan Train, Thirteenth Tale, and a Curious Beginning on my TBR list as well, though not on this week's list. (My Goodreads to-be-read shelf is currently at 1422 lol... which is pretty much insanity.) The cover for Furiously Happy cracks me up every time I see it haha :) My TTT
ReplyDelete1422! Thank you for making me not feel so bad about my list! ;) I love the cover of "Furiously Happy" too -- that raccoon is just adorably wacky! And it reminds of the taxidermy story from the first book.
DeleteWow! Vicious and After You, hope you enjoy them. Is that last one a Manga?

Happy Reading!
It's a graphic novel, not Japanese though so I don't think it counts as manga. People really seem to love it so I figured it'd be a good place to dive into a new genre!
DeleteI really really want to read Vicious as well! I heard so many amazing things about this novel and the author that I NEED TO see what's the hype is all about. In the Woods sounds pretty good as well, will definitely add it to my TBR list. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!

After You is one I am really excited for. Dark Places was really good. I love the whole Dublin Murder Squad series. Great lists!
ReplyDeleteObviously I want to read Vicious too. A Curious Beginning has a very pretty cover!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it gorgeous? It would've caught my eye even if I hadn't already intended to read it!
DeleteSO many good books on this list! I loved STILL LIFE, IN THE WOODS, ORPHAN TRAIN and THE THIRTEENTH TALE. I really want to read A CURIOUS BEGINNING, too. It's been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks now -- I need to get to it ASAP.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I'm excited about "A Curious Beginning." I've been meaning to check out Deanna Raybourn for ages and the beginning of a new series seems like the perfect opportunity! I'm glad you enjoyed so many of my upcoming reads -- I really think I'll love them too. Fingers crossed for lots of 5-star reviews!
DeleteYes to Jenny Lawson! I just got my copy today. I LOVE Still Life, Louise Penny is a fantastic writer. I just finished the third book in that series. I'm listening to a Tana French right now - The Secret Place. So far it is great too. Oh who am I kidding, I love your whole list! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved The Thirteenth Tale! I hope you enjoy it as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a book I've been meaning to read for years and just haven't gotten around to. I'm fully expecting to love it!
DeleteHope you enjoy Dark Places!

I think I will -- I really liked "Gone Girl" and "Sharp Objects"! I'm fully expecting more twisted craziness!
DeleteThe Adventuress is on my list! And I loved The Orphan Train - it's quiet and moving.
