Happy Tuesday, fellow bookworms! I had a crazy hard time narrowing down my selections for this week's Top Ten Tuesday prompt hosted by The Broke and the Bookish: the top 10 books I can't believe I haven't read in the genre of my choosing. That was easy -- historical fiction. A quick glance at my to-read list shows that it's bursting with fabulous historical fiction novels just waiting to be devoured. But whittling my list down to 10? Impossible! So I present:
16 Historical Fiction Novels I NEED To Read
Some are by authors I've read and loved before, some are recommendations, some are war novels, some are tearjerkers, some are cozy mysteries -- but they all transport readers to a different time. Have you read any of these titles? Do you have any recommendations (not that I need any, clearly) that I must add to my historical fiction reading list?

There are several here that I've read and loved. MAISIE DOBBS, SILENT IN THE GRAVE and I want to read BURIAL RITES. OK, you must read CROCODILE ON THE SANDBANK - so funny. And also THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY - wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you liked several of the books I want to read -- that's encouraging! :)
DeleteI loved Guernsey and Crocodile on the Sandbank. Maisie Dobbs is very good as well, although I had trouble with some of the sequels.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with The Winter Sea cover. Maisie Dobbs sounds interesting. It reminds me of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I've been binge watching it on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing that Miss Fisher series coming through at the library where I work. It looks intriguing! I love The Winter Sea cover too. All the covers of her books are beautiful and fit together well.
DeleteI need to read a couple of these books too LOL!! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday if you wanna check it out :) http://bookbabble.weebly.com/blog/top-ten-tuesday1
ReplyDeleteI usually don't read adult historical fiction novels so I haven't read any of these either. I do want to read All the Light We Cannot See, and I've heard good things about Burial Rights, too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy them when you get to read them!
One of my goals this year was to read more historical novels - this is perfect timing, coming across this list and see the coomments above!
ReplyDeleteI've read the Orphan Train and enjoyed it. There are a couple already on y to read list. Found a couple more to add!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, Sarah's Key and The Winter Sea! 2 of my faves. Also (similar to Sarah's Key) read Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. And, The Kitchen House and The Lost Wife are on my list too.
ReplyDeleteThe Winter Sea is probably the book on the list I'm most looking forward to. I'm a little nervous about Sarah's Key... I already know some of what happens; a few years ago I knocked on a neighbor's door to borrow something and she answered with tears streaming down her face. What was she in the middle of reading? Sarah's Key! So I know it's going to be a tearjerker!
DeleteThere is a movie too that was pretty good....of course not as good as the book (they never are!). And have you read anything else by Susannah Kearsley? The Rose Garden is very good too. BTW, I really enjoy your blog! I have gotten some great book suggestions here. :)
DeleteWell thanks, Amy! Your comment made my day! :) I haven't read anything else by Susanna Kearsley but I know she's written quite a few books. I went on GoodReads to check out The Rose Garden and saw that I had at some point already added it to my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation!
