Like many people, my favorite season is autumn. (You can read all about the reasons why I love it here.) The Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop prompt this week is "fall" and I'm super-excited to show you all of my favorite fall things!
I call Colorado home and I adore the golden seas of aspens that fall brings there.
I have always loved carving pumpkins! This is my favorite Halloween picture -- I love our funny faces and I also would have to say this is the neatest pumpkin I've carved. The picture was taken several years ago, back in college. That's my then-boyfriend/now-husband Jarrod and my brother Andy, who's now almost 18!
My mom has grown miniature pumpkins in her garden for years. This was two falls ago, the last time I was in Colorado for my favorite season. (It was a pit-stop on our move from Texas to Hawaii.) Of course, Conan insisted on being in the picture with his grandparents and uncle!
When I want to taste fall on my tongue (which is pretty much daily September through November) I get a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte.
My love of football has really grown over the years, especially since marriage has meant my Saturdays during fall are spent watching football with Jarrrod. The college teams I cheer for are Colorado State University (my alma mater), the Air Force Academy (Jarrod's alma mater), and the University of Florida Gators (my Floridian husband's all-time favorite team). NFL-wise I'm a fan of the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts. (P.S. So far I'm undefeated in my fantasy football league this year!)
I'm a huge fan of holiday decorations and I have a ton of fall decor. I love the cozy feel that the reds, yellows and oranges give our home. My favorite thing is my "Harvest" candle from Yankee Candle Company. I find myself going to sniff its spicy scent throughout the day.
Fall brings back childhood memories of raking leaves and jumping in the crunchy piles. This was me at about age 7.
Fall also makes me think of apples, and I enjoy baking with them this time of year. I love this picture of an Indiana apple-picking expedition with my mom and grandma when I was 5 years old. I remember our delicious homemade applesauce well!
And I'll leave you with another picture of some stunning Colorado aspens in Rocky Mountain National Park. This is why autumn always makes me nostalgic for home!
Great pictures! I too love the changing colors, pumpkin spice latte's (funny 'cause I don't really like pumpkin ~ guess with coffee it's a-ok!), football (Steelers fan all.the.way!), and the smell of apple anything baking in the oven!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pumpkin carving ~ super creative!
I love fall in Colorado and miss it so much (went to college at N Colorado and I'm a USAF brat)! I live in New England now, so I still enjoy the change of seasons and some beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Gussy's Inspiration Workshop :)
